NATIONAL
TRUST
National Trust was formed in 1969 as a seven piece horn group. Through
the years, it has made many transformations.
In the early 70's, National Trust did a 50's show called "Sammy Slicker
& The Blackjacks". National Trust played many engagements in the Southern
Tier and Northern Pennsylvannia. The 50's show became very popular. As
a result, today when National Trust plays that area, they are billed as
Sammy Slicker & The Blackjacks to emphasize the 50's sound.
National Trust is now a three piece band with a big sound and equally big
repertoire of music for all ages.
The big sound is accomplished with the use of keyboard and bass sequences,
which Sam Guarino programs. Every keyboard and bass sound has been played
by Sam and entered into a sequence. In addition to keyboard and bass sounds,
horns and strings are also used. Sam is the lead singer, sax player, and
rhythm guitarist. To round out the sound is the talented Ted Nagel on lead
guitar and vocals and the rock steady Sticks Davis on drums and vocals.
As Glenda Morgan, the city clerk of Mobile, Alabama put it, "How can three
people come up with such a big sound?"
National Trust has played the Greater Buffalo Italian Heritage and Food
Festival every year since 1989. We hope you will come and hear National
Trust and use this band for your functions. You won't be Disappointed!
